The School of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of Leeds, UK
Dimitra Mitsa is a Lecturer in Biotechnology at the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of Leeds. With over a decade of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, she has led the development and implementation of novel analytical methods for protein therapeutics. Motivated to apply her skills and expertise to train the next generation of analytical scientists, she returned to academia, where she currently focuses on developing industry-informed curricula, with an emphasis on internationalisation, employability, and digitally enhanced teaching. In parallel, her research interests extend to the interdisciplinary space of pharmaceutical law, ethics, and the broader societal implications of biopharmaceutical innovation.
Dr. Stephanie Gumbs
Executive Advisor for Leadership & Strategy, Office of The Chancellor-New York Public Schools
Dr. Stephanie Gumbs is an educational leader, executive coach, researcher, and author specializing in sustainable leadership, burnout prevention, resilience, and self-care for leaders. Her work combines doctoral research, extensive leadership experience, and executive coaching to help leaders thrive while navigating complex professional challenges. Her doctoral dissertation, A Qualitative Study of Black Women Superintendents' Use of Critical Spirituality in Their Leadership, explored how African American women superintendents successfully sustained their leadership through resilience, intentional self-care, spirituality, and authentic leadership practices. The study highlighted these qualities as essential leadership competencies for overcoming adversity and leading effectively. Dr. Stephanie Gumbs is also the author of Leading Without Losing Yourself: A Guide to Self-Care and Burnout Prevention for Women in Leadership, which translates her research into practical strategies that help leaders prevent burnout, establish healthy boundaries, and lead with purpose and well-being. Through her keynote presentation, Leading Without Losing Yourself: Sustainable Leadership, Burnout Prevention, and Healing Through Self-Care, she equips educational and organizational leaders with research-based, actionable tools to strengthen resilience, promote leader wellness, and build healthier, more sustainable organizations.
